It is no surprising to see children having Bipolar Disorder. The usual cause of childhood Bipolar Disorder is genetic related. A large percentage of the children diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder is said to inherit the genes from a family history of the disease. This does not mean that other factors cannot trigger childhood Bipolar Disorder.
The episodes of Bipolar Disorder in children are the same as that of adults. There is the usual mood swings from mania episodes to depressive episodes. Unfortunately, this disease cannot be cured as no Bipolar Disorder researches have provided a contrary view. Thus, it is important that a child is given the best treatment option to help him or her out of the traumatic experiences he or she encounters.
As a parent, you don’t have to blame yourself if your child is a victim of Bipolar Disorder. Since, it is genetically transferred, you don’t have any control of it, and neither can you prevent it from happening. You have to brace yourself up and seek for remedies that will relief your child’s off the symptoms of this disease.
One aspect of childhood Bipolar Disorder that is very difficult is the diagnosis. It will take an experienced physician to achieve this because symptoms often look like that of other mental illnesses. However, this disease can be treated in children especially with combination of therapies, counseling and medications.
